DIY Headlight Mount

I wanted to be able to mount multiple headlights to my bike, I wanted the lights positioned lower, and I didn't want to clutter up the handlebars, so I fabricated this fork-mounted front light mount...

It's a little difficult to see in the photos, but the mount attaches to the bike's fork at three points: midway down on each fork leg (using vinyl-coated "P" clamps) and behind the front brake caliper. The mount itself is constructed from a short section of 1-inch poplar dowel which forms the crosswise light mounting bar, lengths of 0.25-inch solid aluminum rod which form the vertical legs, and a short strip of flat aluminum stock bent into an appropriate shape which runs from the poplar dowel to behind the front brake. 0.25-inch holes were drilled in the end of the dowel to accept the aluminum rod -- these are held in place by friction only (I was planning to epoxy them in place but never got around to it, it works fine without). The aluminum legs clamp to the front fork using some brake-shoe mounting eyebolts from an old Mafac Racer brake and the "P" clamps.
